our Mission

Romanian Dental and Maxillofacial Prosthetic Society – SRPDMF

It was established out of the desire to support and promote the specialty of Dental Prosthetics. Through the activities and projects we will undertake, we aim to contribute to the establishment of standards for practice, research, and training in the field of dental prosthetics, in order to improve the level of dental services provided to patients.

The Congress of the College of Dentists in Bucharest has become a true benchmark of excellence in dentistry.

The theme of this year's edition is "Current Dentistry between Classic and Modern" and opens an essential dialogue about the balance between the established rigor of clinical practice and the new approaches brought by innovation, technology and, in short, everything that means progress in the field.

The President of the College of Dentists in Bucharest, Prof. Dr. Horia Mihai Barbu, sends all participants an exhortation to reason and attention to the patient.

“TRADITIONAL VALUES in dentistry. The dentist's well-founded knowledge is constantly being improved. Continuing education always offers us the best solutions in the treatment offered to patients. At the same time, we live in a spectacular period of technological progress that interferes in all areas of medicine, and we, as dentists, will have to ASSUME A NEW ROLE: To find balance. The doctor does not work only with data, that is why I will take into account the experiences and needs of patients, something that no technology will be able to do, not having this human side. Certainly, technology will become an indispensable ally in dentistry as well, but LET'S NOT FORGET: only the doctor decides how and when to use it. The final decision remains in our hands.”

We are profoundly honoured to announce that the distinguished board of the International College of Prosthodontists (ICP) has accepted our Association, the Romanian Dental and Maxillofacial Prosthetic Society, as an Organizational Member of the ICP.

International College of Prosthodontists (ICP) was established in the early 1980s. The name “college” reflects a group engaged in a common pursuit, and “prosthodontists” (rather than “prosthodontics”) distinguishes its members as specialists. The ICP internationally promotes the specialty and discipline of prosthodontics. Establishing the prosthodontic specialty worldwide strengthens each section individually and confirms universally that prosthodontists are specialists.

The British Society of Prosthodontics (BSSPD) is the foremost Specialist Prosthodontic Society in the UK and was founded in 1953.
The worldwide membership is around 500, and the society is always actively pursuing new members who have an interest in fixed, removable, implant or maxillofacial prosthodontics. Thanks to the efforts of our colleague, Dr. Raluca Draghici, a Specialist in Prosthodontics, Doctor of Medical Sciences, member of the Romanian Dental and Maxillofacial Prosthetic Society (SRPDMF), and a member of the International Network for Orofacial Pain and Related Disorders Methodology (INfORM), which operates under the aegis of The International Association for Dental Research (IADR), we invite you to read this valuable article. Dr. Draghici co-authored the Romanian translation with Dr. Andrei Santa, a Specialist in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics. This translation has been approved for publication by the IADR, with the endorsement of its Director, Prof. Dr. Daniele Manfredini.
